King of Prussia, PA – Theodore Presser Company is pleased to present two new works for flute and piano by Amanda Harberg. Feathers and Wax (114-41677 - score and part - $16.99) considers the flight of Icarus too near the sun, with its dramatic rise and fall. Composed for flutist Julietta Curenton, Feathers and Wax can be heard in a YouTube performance. Poem and Transformations (114-41679 - score and part - $18.99), a darker and mysterious opus demanding a broad range of dynamics and skills, was written for flutist Susan Glaser, who recorded the work on her album Mountain Songs (Koch Progressive). Glaser's recording can also be heard on YouTube.

Amanda Harberg studied at the Juilliard School for her B.M. and M.M., also earning the Peter Mennin Prize for Outstanding Achievement and Leadership in Music. She has also garnered a Fulbright/Hays Fellowship to study abroad, two Meet the Composer Creative Connections grants, a MacDowell Colony summer residency, as well as grants from the Mellon Foundation, the New York State Council on the Arts, and others. Her works have been performed by ensembles as diverse as the Grand Rapids Symphony, the National Symphony of Ecuador, the Thuringer Symphoniker, and the New York Licorice Ensemble. She has received recent commissions from the New Jersey Youth Symphony, flutist Juiletta Curenton for her debut with the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society (Feathers and Wax), the Albany Symphony and David Alan Miller, and more.
