Pachelbel Canon Available in New Trio Arrangements

King of Prussia, PA – Theodore Presser Company continues its line of instrumental arrangements of the classic Pachelbel Canon in D with three new settings for trios. Arranger Daniel Dorff has transcribed the Canon for Flute, B Flat Clarinet, and Piano (114-41780 Score and Parts $9.99), for Violin, Viola, and Piano (114-41781 Score and Parts $9.99), and for Two E Flat Alto Saxophones and Piano (114-41782 Score and Parts $9.99). Dorff has previously arranged the Canon for solo with piano for virtually all orchestral instruments. These three new trio arrangements address the most popular instrumental trios. As with a round, each instrument plays the same passages, but starting at different intervals. The ingenious overlapping creates the intricate sounds when the instruments play off of each other in the world's most beloved canon. For classroom, for recital, for weddings or for gigs, Dorff's three new arrangements provide a number of performance opportunities.

The new arrangements of Pachelbel Canon are now available through Theodore Presser Company or your favorite music retailer.

Daniel Dorff was born in New Rochelle, NY; acclaim came early with First Prize in the Aspen Music Festivals annual composers competition at age 18 for his Fantasy, Scherzo and Nocturne for saxophone quartet. Dorff received degrees in composition from Cornell and University of Pennsylvania; teachers included George Crumb, George Rochberg, Karel Husa, Henry Brant, Ralph Shapey, Elie Siegmeister, and Richard Wernick. He studied saxophone with Sigurd Rascher. In 1996, Dorff was named Composer-In-Residence for Symphony in C (formerly Haddonfield Symphony), in which he played bass clarinet from 1980 through 2002. Dorffs works have been performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Louisville Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Aspen Music Festival, Spoleto Festival, and Eastman Wind Ensemble, and many others.
