King of Prussia, PA – Theodore Presser Company has published the Chen Yi Memory, as arranged for solo Flute by Mary Holzhausen (114-41787 � Score � $6.99). Originally written for solo Violin, the instrument in which the composer was trained as a performer, Memory is Dr. Chen's strong emotional reaction to the loss of a beloved teacher. Working closely with the composer, arranger Holzhausen has now adapted the work for the flute.

As a Distinguished Professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance, a prolific composer and recipient of the prestigious Charles Ives Living Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters (2001-04), Chen Yi blends Chinese and Western traditions, transcending cultural and musical boundaries. Through doing so, she serves as an ambassador to the arts, creating music that reaches a wide range of audiences, inspiring people with different cultural backgrounds throughout the world. Dr. Mary Holzhausen has appeared as a soloist in venues across North America and Europe. She is also principal flutist in the Kansas City Civic Orchestra and the Kinnor Philharmonic of Kansas City. A member of several chamber ensembles including Trio Sempre and the flute quartet Collage, she has arranged several classics for the flute quartet, and has also composed on occasion. As a teacher, Dr. Holzhausen serves on the faculty of the Village Music Academy teaching both flute and piano and serving as the Director of the Chamber Music Institute. She received her DMA in Flute Performance from the University of Missouri at Kansas City Conservatory of Music in May 2006.
