Clint Needham Chamber Symphony in Study Score
Clint Needham Chamber Symphony

King of Prussia, PA – Theodore Presser Company announces the publication of Clint Needham's Chamber Symphony for chamber orchestra (416-41371 – Study Score – $50.00).

Chamber Symphony was commissioned in 2007 by the American Composers Orchestra with generous support of Paul Underwood, and with additional support from the National Endowment for the Arts. Needham's original intent with Chamber Symphony was to encapsulate the 2008 presidential election, from the energy of the Democratic primaries to the historic general election campaign and win of Barack Obama. Needham says, "In the midst of the general election circus, I decided to broaden my inspiration and have the work's overall goal focus on the larger ideas of hope and transformation." The three-movement work displays the young composer's brilliant grasp of orchestration with full use of the available forces. A recording of the American Composers Orchestra premiere in 2008 is available on YouTube.

Clint Needham's Chamber Symphony is available now through Theodore Presser Company or your favorite music retailer.

Recently named recipient of a Charles Ives Scholarship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Clint Needhams music has been recognized with two ASCAP Morton Gould Awards, the William Schuman Prize/BMI Student Composer Award, the Jacob Druckman Prize from the Aspen Music Festival, First Prize in the International Ticheli Composition Contest, the Heckscher Prize from Ithaca College, a Lee Ettelson Composer Award and the coveted Underwood New Music Commission from the American Composers Orchestra. His orchestral music has been commissioned and performed by the American Composers Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, the Aspen Concert Orchestra, Cabrillo Festival Orchestra, Cleveland Chamber Symphony, and the New York Youth Symphony in Isaac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall. Various chamber groups including the American Brass Quintet, Aspen Contemporary Ensemble, Indiana University New Music Ensemble, and Ithaca Colleges KULMUSIK have given performances of his chamber music across the country and in Europe. Needham's principal composition teachers include Claude Baker, Loris Chobanian, David Dzubay, Michael Gandolfi, Per Mrtensson, Sven-David Sandstrm, and Richard Wernick. Clint has also studied with Robert Beaser, Syd Hodkinson, Christopher Rouse, and George Tsontakis at the Aspen Music Festival as a Susan and Ford Schumann composition fellow and with Mario Davidovsky at the Wellesley Composers Conference as a composition fellow.
