NEWS FROM CARL FISCHER MUSIC
For Immediate Release January 24, 2017
Jacqueline du Pré's Elgar Concerto
Concerto in E minor

New York, NY – Carl Fischer Music announces the release of Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 (B3463 — Score and Part — $16.99) composed by Edward Elgar and edited by Marion Feldman with consideration paid to fingerings and bowings by Jacqueline du Pré.

Cello legend Jacqueline du Prés (19451987) timeless musical voice has inspired the greatest of todays cellists to study her techniques right down to the intimate minutiae of her most famous performances. In this very special edition of Sir Edward Elgars Concerto in E Minor Op. 85, world renowned performer and teacher, Marion Feldman, has delivered a transcription of unprecedented detail. Feldman has carefully documented every articulation, fingering, and bowing found in a video recording of du Pré, which, coupled with Feldmans extensive experience with the instrument, makes this an indispensable resource for students and professionals alike.

Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 is available now through Carl Fischer Music, or your favorite music retailer.

Marion Feldman has been on the cello and chamber music faculty of the Manhattan School of Music, College and Pre-College Divisions since 1974. She is a member of the artist cello faculty in NYU Steinhardt School, Music and Performing Arts Professions and her longest affiliation has been with CUNY Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music since 1972. Having studied with Luigi Silva, Leonard Rose, Bernard Greenhouse, Zara Nelsova, William Primrose, Artur Balsam, Louis Persinger, and Hans Letz, Feldman is truly an expert in her field and has performed around the world as orchestral soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, and master clinician.

Widely known for her recording of the famous Elgar Concerto with Sir John Barbirolli and the London Symphony Orchestra from 1965, Jacqueline du Pré's legacy has established her as one of the most influential cellists in second half of the twentieth century. Du Pré made her debut at the young age of sixteen, embarking on an impressive career in front of a wider audience than most young classical musicians of her time. Though cut short by the tragedy of her death, du Pré's career would lead her to perform with the likes of the London Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, New Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, and such conductors as Barbirolli, Sargent, Sir Adrian Boult, Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta and Leonard Bernstein.
