New Edition of Three American Pieces by Lukas Foss
Foss Three American Pieces

New York, NY – Carl Fischer Music announces the release of a new edition of Three American Pieces for Clarinet and Piano (W2684 Score and Part $14.99) composed by Lukas Foss, arranged by Richard Stoltzman, and edited by Seunghee Lee.

This edition of the beautiful Three American Pieces by Lukas Foss offers revisions by acclaimed clarinetist Seunghee Lee. As a student, Lee fell in love with clarinet icon Richard Stoltzmans original arrangement and would later work directly with Lukas Foss to improve the pieces playability for performance on the clarinet. Lee has been performing her version for years and in tandem with the release of this edition, she is also releasing the world-premiere recording of the piece on her album, Full Circle.

Three American Pieces is now available through Carl Fischer Music, or your favorite music retailer.

A true Renaissance man, Lukas Foss (19222009) was equally renowned as a composer, conductor, pianist, educator and spokesman for his art. As a composer, Mr. Foss eagerly embraced the musical languages of his time, producing a body of over one hundred works that Aaron Copland described as including “among the most original and stimulating compositions in American Music.” As Music Director of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Brooklyn Philharmonic, and Milwaukee Symphony, Foss was an effective champion of living composers of every stripe and brought new life to the standard repertoire. His legendary performances as a piano soloist, in repertory ranging from J. S. Bachs D Minor Concerto to Leonard Bernsteins Age of Anxiety, earned him a place among the elite keyboard artists of our time. For more information, see our Composer Page.

Multi-faceted musician, international recording artist, and musical entrepreneur, Seunghee Lee brings a vivacious energy, an exquisite elegance, and extraordinary precision to all her endeavors. Ms. Lee received her Bachelors degree from the Eastman School of Music, studying with Charles Neidich and Eli Eban, and her Masters degree and Artist Diploma from the Yale School of Music, studying with David Shifrin. As soloist, Seunghee has performed with the Saint Louis Symphony, the Metropolitan Symphony of Minneapolis, the Music Academy of the West Philharmonic, the Jupiter Symphony of New York, the Yale Philharmonia, among others, as well as at the prestigious Dame Myra Hess Recital Series in Chicago's Cultural Center, and with Bucheon Philharmonic where she served as a principal clarinetist from 19931995.
