Born in Argentina on April 11, 1916, Alberto Ginastera led a very successful career as both composer and educator and is now widely considered to be one of the most influential composers of 20th-century classical music in the Americas. With an inclination towards Argentinian nationalistic styles and an eager ear for modern music, Ginastera developed a very unique voice drawing inspiration from composers as far flung as Juan Jose Castro, Luis Gianneo, Igor Stravinsky, and Béla Bartók. Ginastera also taught throughout Argentina at many institutions and left his impression on many of today's best known young composers.
Alejandro Cremaschi is a respected pianist, pedagogue, and specialist in Latin American piano music. He has completed degrees at University of Maryland Baltimore County; the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina; and the University of Minnesota, and is currently teaching piano pedagogy, applied piano, class piano, and keyboard harmony at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
