New York, NY – Carl Fischer Music announces the re-release of the University String Orchestra Album (O1525 – Full Score – $24.99, O1526-O1531 – Parts – $9.99 each), compiled, edited, and arranged by Albert Stoessel.
Created by Albert Stoessel in 1927, the University String Orchestra Album remains a sought-after compendium of orchestral classics by Mozart, Bach, Handel, and more. Stoessel, with the help of Martin Bernstein, arranged these standards with careful attention paid to ensemble flexibility. The collection can be performed by various instrumental combinations including a third violin part to act as an optional viola part replacement. Orchestra directors will be happy to find included in this collection, back by popular demand, many works featured across state lists in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas, to name a few.

Violinist, composer, conductor, and teacher, Albert Stoessel, was well known in the early part of the 20th century as an expert in his field. His career began at the age of 19, touring as both a sought after soloist and a member of the Hess String Quartet. Soon, Stoessel became a repeat soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and after Enrico Caruso's final tour, relocated to New York City where he would establish himself as an expert conductor, composer, and teacher. Stoessel's legacy includes the founding of New York University's music department, the honor of conducting many American premieres as director of the opera and orchestra departments at the Juilliard Graduate School, the creation of widely used educational resources including the University String Orchestra Album and The Technic of the Baton, and a number of his own compositions ranging from solo works to the opera Garrick.
