NEWS FROM CARL FISCHER MUSIC
For Immediate Release April 19, 2017
Clarence Cameron Whites Levee Dance
Levee Dance

New York, NY  Carl Fischer Music announces the release of Levee Dance, Op. 27, No. 4 for violin and piano (B3464 Score and Part $8.99), composed by Clarence Cameron White and edited by Dunja Lavrova.

This re-publication of Clarence Cameron Whites archived Levee Dance has been carefully edited by world renowned violinist Dunja Lavrova. Made famous as one of Jascha Heifetzs favorite encores, this gem from the Golden Age of Violin now benefits from a fresh interpretation that perfectly evokes the playing style of that period. The modern performer will be happy to find an updated, easy to read layout with focused performance notes and special attention paid to stylistically appropriate fingerings and bowings.

Levee Dance, Op. 27, No. 4 is available now through Carl Fischer Music, or your favorite music retailer.

Born in Clarksville, Tennessee, Clarence Cameron White (18801960) was not only an influential composer, but also a renowned concert violinist. Having studied with the likes of Will Marion Cook, Joseph Douglass, Frederick Doolittle, and many others, White was an expert violinist who contributed extensively to the instruments repertoire and pedagogical practices. White was particularly respected for his contribution to the development of the black musical community within America and served in administrative positions throughout his career as the head of the string department at the Washington Conservatory of Music, the president of the National Association of Negro Musicians, and the head of the music department at Hampton University.

Russian-British violinist Dunja Lavrova began her musical studies in St. Petersburg, won a full scholarship at The Yehudi Menuhin School, and completed both her Bachelor and Masters degrees at the Royal College of Music. Renowned for her solo and chamber recitals along with performances with orchestras from around the world, Lavrova is fanatical about the Golden Age of Violin era and maintains a self-proclaimed mission to bring the scores and the playing style of that period to todays audiences. In addition to performing more traditional repertoire, Dunja frequently performs with world-class Jazz and Pop artists, Latin and Rock bands, in shows, and alongside Big Bands.
