34 Orchestral Etudes for Trumpet

New York, NY – Carl Fischer Music announces the release of 34 Orchestral Etudes for Trumpet (WF221 - Score - $14.99) by Vasily Brandt, edited by Mark Clodfelter.

The Orchestral Etudes composed by Vasily Brandt have been used for over a century to prepare trumpet players to play many of the standards in the orchestral repertoire. This new edition by acclaimed trumpet performer and prominent pedagogue Mark Clodfelter aims to foster a renewed awareness of note groupings, sequences, stylistic emphasis, and syncopation. Additionally, Professor Clodfelter has proposed transpositions for many of the etudes, utilizing Bb, C, and Eb Trumpets. Geared toward a more global understanding of the instrument, this new approach offers a fresh, indispensable perspective for any serious trumpet students library.

34 Orchestral Etudes for Trumpet is available now through Carl Fischer Music, or your favorite music retailer.

Karl Wilhelm (Vasily Georgievich) Brandt (18691923) enjoyed a diverse musical career. During his tenure at the Bolshoi Theater, he served as Principal Trumpet, and later became First Cornet. He went on to teach at both the Moscow Conservatory and the Saratov Conservatory. As a composer, Brandt is responsible for crafting orchestral etudes and two concert pieces for trumpet and piano that have become staples in the instruments repertoire.

Mark Clodfelter is an internationally acclaimed performer and recording artist. As a soloist, Clodfelter has appeared in many of the worlds finest performing venues throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Clodfelter has held numerous orchestral and chamber ensemble positions and is currently Principal Trumpet of the Asheville Symphony Orchestra, the Trade Winds (Tampa, Florida) and The Palladium Brass. He has recorded extensively in styles ranging from classical to rock. Mark is also the Professor of Trumpet at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
