King of Prussia, PA – Jonathan Leshnoff's Violin Concerto No. 2 will premiere to celebrate the end of Jaap van Zweden's 10-year run with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) May 24-26, 2018 at Dallas's Meyerson Symphony Center in what will “…undoubtedly be the hottest ticket in the classical music season…” (Texas Classical Review). About Jonathan Leshnoff
Praised by The Washington Post as “clearly one of the more gifted young American composers” of this generation, Jonathan Leshnoff is described by The New York Times as “a leader of contemporary American lyricism.” His compositions have earned international acclaim for their striking harmonies, structural complexity, and powerful themes.
Leshnoff has been ranked among the most performed living composers by American orchestras in recent seasons, and upcoming seasons are comparably filled with musical activity and collaborations. Highlights of the 2017-18 season include the Nashville Symphony premiering Leshnoff’s Symphony No. 4; the Asheville Symphony and violinist Itamar Zorman performing Leshnoff's Chamber Concerto following a celebrated performance of the work by Gil Shaham at the Aspen Music Festival in summer 2017; and "The President's Own" United States Marine Band premiering the band arrangement of Leshnoff's opener Starburst, which has been performed by over fifty orchestras worldwide.
Leshnoff’s catalog is vast, including several symphonies and oratorios in addition to numerous concerti, solo, and chamber works. Leshnoff is a Professor of Music at Towson University and is based in Baltimore, Maryland.
